News – Old

Welcome to West Bristol Arts 2023. This page will be regularly updated as we approach the trail, with news for artists and visitors.

Many thanks to everyone for updates and tweaks to the brochure, which has now gone to press. We will shortly be in touch with news about brochure distribution etc. Note that changes can still be made to the website, up to and including the weekend of the art trail itself.

Brochure Proof for checking

The initial draft for the WBAT 2023 brochure can be viewed here:

Please take a moment to check your own entry, the thumbnail image, contact and venue information and also the position of your venue on the map. If you’re happy with everything, there’s no need to do anything. If you do spot a problem however, please email Vyv at [email protected] before the 10th August.

Final Call for images.

To those artists who still haven’t supplied any images, please send something NOW, otherwise we will be unable to include you in the brochure. Email Vyv [email protected].

Please Refresh your Thumbnails!

Further to the item below, some thumbnail images are as old as the Art Trail itself! Please consider using an image of RECENT work for the brochure in 2023. Email to Vyv [email protected].

Time to check Brochure Images and Artist Webpage.

Over the next couple of weeks, can artists please check the following:

  • Is your ‘thumbnail’ image on the home page grid correct? Hopefully you’ll recognise your own picture, if you hover with a mouse over any image, the artist name will appear. The grid is in artist’s first name order. This is the image that will appear as a small square in the paper brochure, and is normally shown full size at the top of your artist’s webpage. If there’s just a white square with your name in it, you’ll definitely need to send a picture.
  • Now click on your thumbnail image and your artist webpage should display. Are the images and accompanying text as you’d like? You can have up to 4 additional images and as much text as you want (within reason). We can update the website content any time up to and including the trail itself, however the thumbnail and the 100-character summary have to be finalised by mid-July for the printed brochure.
  • Click on the Venues tab and check that you’re listed as showing where you think you should be. If your venue is offering refreshments/WC or has disabled access, are these listed next to the Venue address? At the moment the venues are in no particular order but this will change nearer the time so that there is an identifiable ‘trail’ for visitors to follow.

If any of these are not right, please email replacement images + text to Vyv on [email protected].

Registration complete.

Registration is now closed for this year’s trail, many thanks to everyone for signing up. For artists wanting to show at group venues, Chris will be in touch shortly with information about who is showing where.

We’re nearly full up!

Well be closing the registration page on Saturday, we are already nearing full capacity. In practice we can usually squeeze everyone in, especially those showing at home or who have made their own arrangements for a venue.

Venue Page

The Venues list has to be updated manually, so don’t worry that it doesn’t currently show everyone who has registered. Vyv will aim to get it updated at the beginning of next week.

Artist webpages

If you’d like to change the text or images on your artist webpage, or the image which will appear on the brochure, just email it all to Vyv at [email protected]

How to Register

Click on the registration tab in the main menu above and follow the instructions on the form. If you took part in recent art trails you may be able to pick your name from a dropdown list, (NB we recently cleared out hundreds of artist details from the dim and distant past, some returning artists might have to enter their info afresh, sorry about that). Any queries, just contact us at [email protected]

New Email Addresses

This year we are introducing more “targeted” email addresses to replace the original one. If you have a query, it would be very helpful if you could use the appropriate one below:

The old address [email protected] will continue to function for the time being.
