I started making ceramics as a teenager, mainly making pots on the wheel, but then doing a bit of figurative sculpture work in clay. After a very long gap (~30 years) I intermittently came back to it when I moved to Bristol 20+ years ago. I now have a wheel in the garden shed and have the luxury of making pots listening to our small waterfall and the birds outside. I share a small electric kiln with my sister in cornwall, where we also do occasional pit firings.
I experiment and make my own glazes including ash glazes using ash from the woodstove in cornwall. I use all kinds of clay and rarely make the same pot twice. I also love making tiles, and particularly using leaves or old wood blocks to imprint. Aiming to do more when I work a bit less! I love it!
