From an early age I have sketched and painted. After retirement I decided to paint more intensely. I had spent several years doing life drawing classes and developed ways of using twig and ink but also wash in some sketches in classes in Cardiff. I completed the part time Foundation Art Class at Queen’s Road Bristol in 2011 and in my second year rented studio space at the Bristol Diving School behind Spike Island.

Since then I have been experimenting with new techniques and skills. I remain mostly a multi-media painter using printing. In 2011 I was inspired by a retrospective exhibition of Paul Klee at Tate Modern. Fascinated by his teaching techniques at the Bauhaus I started with unique ways of painting life-drawing themes. Over the last two years I have also been using Room, dogs and botanical garden plants. I currently work in a Hamilton House studio. My current work is mostly using oil transfers and watercolour / gouache, twig and ink sometimes with wash.
