The craft of weaving gives me the opportunity to work creatively on a number of different levels. I particularly enjoy projects that use a mixture of yarns such as wool and linen that contrast with each other and create three-dimensional ripple-like effects.
My use of colour is inspired by travels to the Far East. Silk yarns are incorporated in the cloth using handspun and naturally dyed to create iridescent effects. Much of my own yarn I coloure with indigo dye.
My work, which includes scarves, domestic and wearable textiles in linen, silk and wool, is inspired by the patterns of landscapes, seascapes and by architectural forms.
