Jo started making clothes, drawing, painting, constructing, taking photographs and generally doing ‘arty’ things from a very young age. Her ‘sensible’ genes won out, however, and with a BScHons in Business Studies, she worked for many years in accountancy, retail, and international marketing communications in high- tech industry. During this time she continued to take art classes whenever possible. Eventually her love for art won out and, combined with changes in her work circumstances, she decided to pursue a long-held dream of studying for an art degree, resulting, in 2002, in a First Class BAHons in Creative Arts (Fine Art and Textiles).
Now working full time as an artist, Jo is inspired by light, colour, nature and world cultures. She works in an intuitive way, with the aim of creating beautiful work – whether that results in paintings, mixed media collages or intricate textile works and silk fibre ‘sculptures’. She has completed a number of private commissions and has had work exhibited in London and the South West, including in the RWA, The Guild Gallery, Bristol, Black Swan Arts, and as a member of the North Bristol Artists, West Bristol Arts, and the Embroiderers’ Guild.
