I have always been interested in the art of fine writing and have been an enthusiastic amateur calligrapher for over 15 years.?? I attend a regular tutored group and have exhibited with them at Wells Museum and at a regional meeting of the Calligraphy and Lettering Arts Society.?? I love the shapes and patterns that words can make and I
particularly enjoy playing with script style and texture and seeing the effects that I can produce.?? Choosing which words to write and how to interpret them on paper is a stimulating creative challenge.
A keen knitter since taught by my grandmother when I was young, I now prefer crochet – enjoying the freedom of only a single hook and stitch at any one time!?? I love using up oddments of yarn, turning them into afghans or freeform pieces and cannot pass a charity shop without checking for yarn to add to my stash!?? Over the last few years I have been experimenting with plarn (yarn made from recycled plastic bags), using this to make a variety of things including handbags, pieces of jewellery and assorted storage baskets.
