Fleur studied Surface Design at the London College of Communication. Textile design and screen printing practice lead on to a passion for the craft of upholstery. Combining a love of textile and furniture design she creates unique chairs by restoring the layers of upholstery, then taking inspiration for textile designs from the design era of the chair.
Minimising waste features highly in Fleur’s practice, using offcuts to make printed items such as bags, purses and tea towels. Recycling and re-using furniture is an important tradition, now more than ever in our throwaway society. Restoring family heirlooms and sentimental pieces so they can be enjoyed by generations to come.
Fleur has also taught traditional upholstery skills to many students with a desire to keep this craft alive.
