Since leaving Art College Jean has continued as an artist, pursuing the new, enjoying the stimulation of exploring different mediums, as with gesso, building from a flat surface for texture and layering with mixed media and small found objects. The Pembrokeshire coast and seashore have been a constant inspiration for this work.

After a course in enameling it became Jean’s main choice of expression. She loves the excitement of testing and using colours, which change with the temperature of the kiln. Jean uses rods and wire on which to assemble her cut and enamelled shapes.Inspiration for such designs have been as varied as; Japanese prints, oriental carpets, sweets and fireworks, but the recurring theme is temples and facades, inspired by visits to Crete and Istanbul.

Jean’s work has been exhibited widely in this country and abroad – USA, Japan, Germany, and France.

Jean is a member of the British Society of Enamellers and has a piece of work in the Vilnius and Goldsmith Art Museum.

In Bristol she has shown work in the City of Bristol Museum and RWA open exhibition.
